Tamarind juice -2tbsp
Urad dal (black gram)-1tbsp
Channa dal (bengal gram)-2tbsp
Jeera (cumin seeds)-1/2 tbsp
Dhana dal -1tbsp(optional)
Coriander seeds -1tbsp
Red chillies-2
Salt to taste
Oil-2tsp
for tempering :
Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp
Hing-pinch
Curry leaves -2
Red chilli -1
Preparation
Heat a teaspoon of oil. Add black gram, coriander seeds
and bengal gram , cumin seeds.. When it starts turning light brown, add red chillies.
Then add parsley leaves and fry for a minute. Add tamarind paste and fry
for a couple of minutes. Allow to cool and blend to a smooth paste.
Heat the remaining teaspoon of oil and add mustard seeds, remaining
cumin seeds and hing,curry leaves.When it splutters, pour over the chutney.
Serve with hot rice and dosa .
Notes:
Cilantro can also be added to the mix. Parsley can be replaced with cilantro in case you do not like its taste.
